Township pleased with four year summer recreation program

Anderson Township trustees endorsed the annual summer recreation program run by Jeff Watterson. The report highlights growth to include arts crafts swimming games and bowling in local schools. Morgan's Raid reenactment vivid Civil War scene in Ohio park

Hundreds of shots rang out as Civil War battle reenactment fans the history at Woodland Mound Park Anderson Township. About 40 participants and two artillery pieces staged a Morgan raid from Batavia to Williamsburg with a 50 minute mock fight and Living history demonstrations over the weekend.

Personal Money Management Workshop returns this fall

Money expert Thomas E. Davidson will again lead the Personal Money Management Workshop in the Forest Hills Journal and Community Journal series with M.E. Lyons YMCA cooperation. The eight weekly sessions run September 17 to November 5 each Wednesday 7 30 to 9 pm at the Lyons YMCA 8108 Clough Pike with a $60 member and $75 non member fee limited to 30 participants registration opens after Labor Day.

Civil War Battle Reenactment at Forest Hills Park

Sunday at Woodland Mound Park in Hamilton County a Civil War battle reenactment drew crowds as participants wore full regalia. Sponsored by the Sixth Ohio Volunteer Infantry Reactivated, the event showcased living history with photos to follow on Page 11-B. Editorial guidance is offered on Page A-8 with views from state officials and journalists.

Severe Storm Floods Hit Mt. Washington Area

Heavy rains soaked Mt. Washington Mt. Carmel and Milford with 1.68 inches on Mt. Carmel 1.5 on Mt. Washington. Flooded streets slowed traffic along Beechmont Avenue and Mt. Carmel Tabasco Road. Dispatch radios failed in Clermont County due to a likely lightning strike. Basements flooded in Milford areas four electrical feeders out in Newtown Williamsville Fairfax and Cold Spring with power outages in Mt. Washington Glen Este and Mt. Carmel. A CG&E spokesman called the storm comparable to large summer events.

Trustees name referee for Anderson Township juvenile court

Thomas Taylor said the appointed referee and presenter for the Anderson Township juvenile court have been chosen but names will be announced later this week. The roles are voluntary or nominal pay, with the referee acting like a judge and the presenter like a prosecuting attorney. Officials aim to launch the court branch by September, modeling after Sharonville’s success in curbing juvenile crime.
