Planners vote against study in Broadwell Road area

The local planning board voted 4 1 to reject a study intended to assess zoning needs for Broadwell Road and surrounding Broadwell corridor. Land plan sparks heated stand-off at Newtown village council

Tuesday’s session over a land use plan stirred tempers as the planning commission’s proposal restricting agricultural land and set backs drew fire. Former mayor Packer backed the plan while resident Blum opposed the agriculture outline, amid a feud with Fischer over land near Blum’s property.

Third FHSD complaint filed over student records access

A third complaint against Forest Hills School District is filed by parents under the federal Family Rights to Privacy Act. The letter to William Riley alleges failure to allow parents to review inspect or copy educational records and delays in access. Additional charges cite privacy violations involving district staff and records.

Vandals target homes and businesses in Anderson Township

Vandalism causes about 20000 in damage to an all wood home under construction in the Foxchapel subdivision. Windows were broken water was turned on and locks damaged. Kerr Construction offers a 500 reward and says the suspects are older youths. Local police note drops in criminal damage but warn the problem remains widespread with many mailboxes also vandalized. Neighbors and business owners call for reporting and parental responsibility to deter damage.
