Notable Iowa Place Names Show Geographical Oddities
Readers note striking patterns in Iowa geography where city names do not align with county names. Des Moines and Des Moines county differ from Polk county, while Keokuk, Wapello, Cedar Rapids, and Sioux City sit outside their eponymous counties. The observation spans many towns and counties, with hundreds more examples cited. The focus shifts to Newton furnishing music as the K T Band departs for Pittsboro for an encampment and parade, detailing band members and travel plans.
