Baxter Briefs From the Northwest Metropolis of Baxter
Baxter is described as a thriving town with strong public support for Honest Alf Davey as supervisor. It highlights local business, new bank and Jordan Bank building plans, hotels, livery services, and a recent burglary attempt foiled at Hager and Schorman's store. Community members travel for visits, weddings, and court hearings, with Baxter promoted as a robust agricultural trading hub between Des Moines and Marshalltown.

Jasper County Agricultural Society to seek office in county records
Minutes detail a meeting where thefts and trespasses at the fair were discussed and a request made to file information with authorities. A committee was named to pursue using the west room of the recorder’s office as the society’s future home, while financial notes show a near 8600 balance after expenses with a plan to apply 900 toward debt to Kerr. Notices urge end to trespassing on fair grounds and promote local bargains in bankrupt stock and heating equipment.
