The W R C was inspected by Mrs. Susan Bartell of Grinnell and hosted a banquet at the Feathers House, home of Ellis McConnaghey. B W Brown asserts Pennsys turned Republican by a million. Vandalia precinct has voted Republican since the war, giving the ticket a thirteen vote majority. Potato harvest continues but should wind up next week.
Newton loses Reinking and Timpe a progressive firm forming partnership with Hanna Sons at Clarence to run The Sun department store in a 76 by 100 building. They promise a handsome, complete store and sell off dry goods in Newton at cash prices starting Monday with stock room for rent and thanks to patrons. Artists and performances advertised for Lister’s Opera House on Mov 10 and 12.
