A fragmented reminiscence recalls village members debating church choirs with satire and local figures such as Miss Tabbie Longshanks and Professor Flute. The piece satirizes opposition to church music, noting ministers and neighbors, and hints at social tensions and gossip surrounding a community choir.
An advertisement touts Dr Miles' Dropey Treatment as a cure for dropsy with free offers worth 1000. It lists cured patients and endorsements from physicians and editors, claims superior results, and urges readers to request the treatment. Includes scattered notes on a choir, real estate rental, and a drugstore endorsement.
A fragment recounts a church chorus performance praised for its harmony. Miss Table chats with Mr. Snuff over tea, noting improvement and fondness for the choir. Professor Flute continues to lead, older but eager, recalling the first Sunday of Our Village Choir.
