Business Men's Banquet Celebrates Newton Progress
The fourth annual Newton Business Men's Association banquet at the Churchill hotel drew a large crowd and featured toasts on the city, schools, manufacturing, and transportation. A wedding in Chicago joined local news as Sadie Quaintance became Mrs. Frank Thompson, while County Attorney W. O. McElroy resigned and Henry Silwold was appointed to succeed him. Nearby, a Metz runaway team collided with a railroad bridge near Skunk River, but a train passed safely as the poultry wagon fell.
