Newton ladies to edit Lincoln souvenir record
Women of the Newton PEO lodge announce a Lincoln birthday edition of the Newton Recon to be printed February 12 1895. The issue will be edited and published entirely by local ladies with set type and press crew from the lodge. It promises heavy home news literary items and ads a large edition and strong local participation focusing on Lincoln anniversary and community affairs.

Twenty Years Honeymoon Celebration in Newton Iowa
A Brodhead Wisconsin couple Henry M Reasoner and Mary L Frary celebrated their twenty year marriage with a large gathering at their Reasnor Iowa farm. Friends from Newton and nearby areas attended a noon dinner, games, and a tour of the estate, which features Jerseys and modern conveniences. Notable gifts included a 108-piece set and silverware. The event honored the groom Samuel Reasoner and the extended family from Reasnor and Newton.
