Wedded Bliss for Eight in Courthouse Ceremony
A curious district court scene featured Judge Dewey officiating a marriage between 75 year old George E Russell, palsied, and Nancy Marquette who pleaded guilty to 50 years in a double wedding later described by the Chicago Times Herald. Other nuptials by Squire Allfree included W Bridie and Mina Cross and Benton Weeks and Cora Harte from the northwest metropolis. The court then held a caucus to nominate a council candidate to fill the M A Carrier vacancy, selecting Rush M Brooks. Ramsey, mistaking ammonia for cognac, swallowed it during a funeral, burning mouth and throat but recovering with antidotes.
