Wreck near Hesston takes life of former Newton resident
A Colorado Springs teenager formerly from Newton was killed in a two vehicle crash near Hesston Monday afternoon. Robin Ray Stevenson nineteen died after being taken to Axtell Christian Hospital with multiple injuries. Dana Linn eighteen Newton was treated for a severe concussion and lacerations. Kenneth Smith fifty seven Hesston suffered contusions and lacerations and was treated at Bethel Deaconess Hospital. The collision occurred at four fifteen p.m. at County Roads 815 and 552. Peterson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Rain northwest of Harvey County sent the Little Arkansas River over its banks Sunday but caused no damage. The river peaked at 15.5 feet and Halstead Police Chief Blaine McMaster said the level posed no immediate threat. He noted rain totals were light locally with figures around .09 inches at Newton and near .07 to .09 inches at area sites over the weekend.
