Hutchinson wins Miss Black Kansas with Newton runner-up
Bridget Van Buren of Hutchinson was crowned Miss Black Kansas in Lawrence. Patricia Tolbert of Newton finished as first runner-up among 11 contestants and six finalists. Harvey County May sales tax receipts fell about 6 percent from May of last year, per the State Department of Revenue. Year to date figures, however, exceed the previous fiscal year.
