City Commission Approves Park Project Under HUD Funds
The commission authorized Mayor Gilbert Buller to sign a water well lease and approved a 10 year agreement with Santa Fe Railway for park development at E 5th and Main. Funds totaling 405000 from Community Development will support landscaping a pool fountain brick sidewalks trees and plantings with city costs listed under several departments.

Retired Newton business owner Morris Hogan dies
Morris R. Hogan, 66, longtime Newton resident and former Hogan's Variety Store owner, died Tuesday at Bethel Deaconess Hospital. Services Friday at St Marys Catholic Church with burial in Burrton Cemetery. He married Alice Billings in 1934. He leaves a widow, three children, 18 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and several siblings. Memorials benefit St Marys Church.
