Ray Captured Near Brushy Mountain After Escape
James Earl Ray was captured near Brushy Mountain Tennessee after a 544 hour flight. Bloodhounds Sandy and Little Red found him exhausted in a leaf pile following a three mile run through rugged terrain. Ray offered no resistance and praised the dogs as he was taken into custody five miles from the prison escape site. Two other felons remained at large as officials noted only two escapees now left.

Tragic Drowning Of Moundridge Youth Jacob Toews
A 16 year old Moundridge boy Jacob Lee Toews drowned Saturday while swimming in a pond two miles north and a half mile east of town. His body was recovered early Sunday by a McPherson County deputy. He was born October 27, 1960 and lived in Moundridge since 1965. Survived by parents Franklin and Melba Toews a brother John and three sisters Judy Geraldine Joyce all of Moundridge and grandmothers Susie Toews Moundridge and Hanna Ziesel Chickasha Okla.
