Two world record holders Earl Bell and Dwight Stones lead a star lineup as NCAA meet opens at Penns Franklin Field. Bell seeks to defend his pole vault title after an 18 foot 74 inch vault, while Stones, a top Olympic favorite, headlines a field aiming to challenge defending champions from UTEP and a strong USC, Kansas, UCLA, and Arizona State contingent. The three day event begins with field trials and trials to finals for top events, as U.S. Olympic prospects compete for Montreal preparation.
