Fear halts PBB research in Michigan laboratories
Dr. Thomas Corbett of the Veterans Administration and the University of Michigan has paused PBB studies after two years of rodent work suggesting possible cancer and birth defect risks. Dr. John Isbister of the Michigan Department of Public Health notes no syndrome is clearly linked to PBB and the first large human study may begin July 1 and run 10 to 15 years, while experts debate cancer risk and long term effects.
