Costs Rise for Vision Care and Eyewear Across States
Medicare covers part of ophthalmology visits but not new glasses, while states allow optometrist price advertising and Texas shows glasses cost about 36 percent less than Florida. Ageing eyes reduce focusing ability, smoking harms vision, and many over 60 need at least one pair for distance and near viewing plus sunglasses. My wife Gerry needed new prescription glasses which cost $92.
