Retired Aristocrat Reaches The Century Mark Today

J Lee Simmons of Buckeystown Frederick County Maryland is celebrated on his 100th birthday as the last of the old Frederick County aristocrats. He recalls the Civil War era and meeting Ulysses Grant at a Frederick Fair while keeping peace with northern and southern factions. He plans to vote Democratic this year and remains a resident of Frederick County. He is known for rifle and pistol skill and for his friendship with Jake Kilrain, and he spends his days on the Buckeystown front porch counting passing cars while smoking a corn cob pipe.
