School Tax May Jump In Anne Arundel
ANNAPOLIS September 29 County taxpayers may face a school tax increase of at least 1 cent next year with a record budget of 8,666,558 adopted by the County Council of PTAs. County Manager Lonergan said this could raise the school tax from 1.44 to 1.50 per 100 assessed value, not including a proposed $200 salary boost for teachers which could push the tax up by 5 cents if effective next January or 9 cents if in September. The figures are tentative and overall county spending may reach about 12 million with possible rises in fire and police taxes as well.
