Catoctin too tries to remake itself after turmoil a year ago
THURMONT AP Griz a 12 year old brown bear and Tank a 55 year old tortoise remain the zoo s main draws as the new Catoctin Wildlife Preserve and Zoo strives to win back visitors. After a messy past including evictions and lineup changes the Hahn family now runs the site and seeks public interest with outreach and a Conan O Brien appearance to boost appeal. The $8 admission and hands on experiences aim to restore trust in a facility once called a mess by officials. The zoo emphasizes a touchy feely approach where kids can rub Tank and Griz as a key appeal.
