North Market Street housing project revives ailing block
Tammy and Ronald Locher moved from Alexandria to Frederick to occupy one of ten new affordable apartments at 313 N Market St. Rents range from 520 for a one bedroom to 675 for a three bedroom. Officials celebrate the renovation of the former Deano's bar as a catalyst to revive the North Market Street corridor, once rundown and emptied by rising values and business shifts. Market Street Partnership’s Artie Esworthy Jr. pushed the plan, hoping residents anchor the block and spur redevelopment downtown.
