Fear of intrusion spurs water and sewer grant review in county
Frederick County officials weigh grants to extend public water and sewer lines to Old Mill Bottom Road neighbors amid reports of contaminated wells and inadequate sewage. Sanitarian Jean von Gunten notes 7 of 10 tested wells contaminated, 17 properties with improper disposal, and a spring repeatedly showing bacteria. Residents fear costs and loss of land, while officials seek grants to cover expensive connections for about 26 homes.
