Fall Mountain Arts and Crafts Festival Near Harpers Ferry

The Fall Mountain Heritage Arts and Crafts Festival returns September 29 through October 1 near Harpers Ferry West Virginia. Sandor Herskovitz of Flushing New York will display briar pipes inspired by shoes and other shapes while regional artisans demonstrate time honored crafts. Entertainers Hotmud Family Pine Island Rector Clifton and Stover The Booger Hole Revival Mountain Grass and Dr Harold McMullen will perform daily folk music. Admission is 2 for adults and 1 for children ages 7 to 17 with free parking. pets are not allowed.

Fiedler to Lead Baltimore Symphony at Towson Center

Wildflowers highlight Green Walled Garden Club meeting

The Green Walled Garden Club held its fall session on September 13 hosted by Mrs. Warren Leahart at Mrs. George Waxter’s home. Morris Hewitt of Mountaindale led a slide program on wildflowers and showcased edible ferns and mushrooms from Frederick County, explaining harvest and cooking methods and noting edible varieties tasted by Hewitt.

Citizens Nursing Home Auxiliary Plans Christmas Bazaar

The Citizens Nursing Home Auxiliary met at 9:50 a.m. with President Mrs. Betty C. McClellan presiding. A large pulltown screen was donated for resident movie viewings and staff meetings. Nov. 16 was set for the Christmas Bazaar chaired by Mrs. McClellan and first vice president Mrs. Evelyn Alexander. Committee chairs include Bake Table Mrs. Muriel Baet and Mrs. Margaret Bitzer. Plant Table Mrs. Helen Griffin and Mrs. Jeanette Campbell. Arts and Crafts Mrs. Libby Staley and Mrs. Janice Jessee. White Elephant Table Mrs. Frances Jones and Mrs. Louise Fraley. Luncheon Table Mrs. Catherine Gannon. Ceramics Mrs. Betty McClellan. Donations from Businesses Mrs. Betty Lawson and Mrs. Florence Lidie. Publicity Mrs. Jeanette Campbell. Ceramics workshops will be held Mondays at 1 30 p.m. in the auxiliary room. In August 65 members volunteered 768 hours at the home. The next meeting is Oct. 4 at 9 30 a.m. at the nursing home.
