Buckeystown Historic Listings At Key County Sites
Frederick County commissioners approved listing Buckingham House and Industrial School on Md 85 near Buckeystown and the Henry Nelson House near New London on the Maryland Register while delaying a broader historic district plan for Buckeystown. A public hearing will be held to gauge resident views as opponents fear loss of property control and opponents stress that listing does not create a governing zoning body. Proponents cite benefits such as recognition historic protection against federally funded projects and potential tax breaks and grants.
