Mantle May Not Start in World Series Opener

Mickey Mantle may miss substantial time with a leg injury as the Yankees face the Dodgers in the World Series opener at Yankee Stadium. Mantle's status remains uncertain though likely limited play, with pinch-hitting possible in Games 1 and 2 and full-time duty possibly by Game 3 at Ebbets Field. Whitey Ford will start against Don Newcombe in the series opener, as New York bets on a strong finish and clutch play.
