Gasoline Prices Edge Up as Rates May Fall
Gasoline prices likely rise this week along with higher postal rates, while signs point to a potential drop in interest rates. Treasury bill yields slid over a full percentage point on expectations of Federal Reserve easing, signaling looser credit. The Cost of Living Council may allow a small gasoline price rise, and Postmaster General Klassen proposed two cent increases for airmail and first class stamps. Revenue sharing eases property tax burdens, and the Treasury reported 13 week bills at 7.331 percent, the lowest since June.
