Drop 100000 More From Federal Payroll
Washington September 2 Chairman Phillip Young of the Civil Service Commission says the Eisenhower administration expects to drop another 100000 workers from the federal payroll by next June 3. This would bring total reductions to about 188000 since January 20. Most cuts come from normal turnover such as vacancies not filled and retirements. Payroll would fall to about 2412000 from a wartime peak of 3700000 in June 1943. January figure cited as 2000000. Officials assure job security for workers who perform satisfactorily.
