Yesterdays bank break in Las Vegas New Mexico ended with a robber killed when a Mexican guard descending to investigated tunnel beneath the vault fired and a gunfight erupted. Guards tore up floors as the other robbers hid in shadows amid glow of the burning pulp and fear. The dead robber is identified as one of the masons who built the vault. In Baltimore Maryland John W Garrett president of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company lies seriously ill at his sons Deer Park home. Family and doctors rush to his side as he battles declining health.
Westminster Maryland September 24 The Monumentals of Baltimore were defeated here today by the Westminster Club by a score of 8 to 1. The Monumentals had beaten the Westminster club here about two weeks earlier marking the home club’s first defeat by a state club.
Lawrence reports a six year old boy, son of farmer James Waterman, murdered near Ottawa in Franklin county. Two half-sisters aged 12 and 14, Carrie and Bessie, allegedly tied a rope around the boy’s neck, dragged him to death, then beat him with a stick. Inquest notes the girls hated him since learning of the half-brother relation. They were held to answer for murder.

The Court Park Improvement Committee is urged to meet in Captain 3.9 B. Hartcock’s office on Court Street at 8 o’clock this evening. All interested are invited to attend. Important business will be transacted. Fair time coming.

Other items note a labor conference deferring contract labor decisions to the full board, and the will of Joseph Beard being set aside for equal division among his children.
Announcement from New York reports stock broker Henry C Friedman eloped with heiress Sarah Scheller daughter of Solomon Scheller. The couple reportedly wed at the Metropolitan Hotel Monday night and left for Niagara Falls. Friedman is a 28 year old member of the New York Mining Stock and National Petroleum Exchange and well known in street and society circles. Scheller, about 19, is said to own a large share of her father's fortune exceeding a million dollars and stands prominent in Hebrew society.
