Rebs Defeat Yanks In Civil War Reenactment Skirmish
The Confederate Army triumphed in a two day Civil War reenactment at Windsor School Grounds in Darnestown with about 600 spectators. Reenactors portrayed a skirmish as Yankee troops retreated into a barn, were overrun, and looting occurred amid cavalry maneuvers and signal demonstrations. Organizers included the Darnestown Historical Society funded by a Montgomery County Humanities Commission grant and drew 80 to 100 participants. Weather improved after a wet start as flags from Sugarloaf Mountain were featured in the signal demonstration.
