About 300 parishioners attended ceremonies at St Michael’s Catholic Church Poplar Springs as Archbishop Francis P Reough presided at a solemn outdoor mass marking the church’s 58th anniversary The altar stood beneath ancient oaks and the event included the first confirmation within the church and a guard of honor by Westminster Knights of Columbus The church is a mission of St Joseph Church Sykesville under Father Austin L Healy and has a noted history from a 1931 sketch.
