Americans eat more bread as food costs fall says wheat director
New York Sept 24 Americans are eating more bread and cheaper foods, with total consumption rising by 8,060,000 barrels or 16 percent from last year. Julian A Barnes, wheat director, noted declines in other foods and a drop in Chicago wholesale wheat to 22 cents per pound. Condensed milk has not moved up as expected, and evaporated milk cooled with the general decline.
