The FBI says crime rose 21 percent in the first half of this year from the same period in 1967 with robberies up 29 percent. Firearms figured in three of every five robberies and over half were street holdups. Rural areas rose 14 percent. suburbs and cities over a million up 21 percent.
London reported by the Associated Press that Britain plans to hand over the Falkland Islands to Argentina. The government has not commented, and a formal statement is expected after Parliament reopens on Oct. 14, with inhabitants of about 2,000 in the islands a priority in policy.
