President Roosevelt Train Delayed by Engine Wheel Accident
President Roosevelt and party were delayed about 36 minutes on a Pennsylvania Railroad train from Oyster Bay to Washington after a rear drive wheel broke and pierced the boiler in a tunnel at Baltimore. Assassins Aim At Odessa Chief In City Standoff
In St Petersburg on a September day Chief Nettgardt and Prince Obolensky toured government buildings on Boulevards near Pushkin Square. Pier Collapsed Kills Two Injures Twenty Four Near Venita
A steel pier on a bridge under construction over Grand river at Carrys Ferry collapsed killing two men and injuring twenty four others as the east span failed. The dead are Thomas Browning and Henry Becker. The accident occurred during a routine erection with several workers injured, some with broken limbs. Nearby, five miners were seriously burned in a gas explosion at No. 14 shaft Marey vein of the Pennsylvania Coal Co. in Wilkesbarre Pennsylvania. Injured include Samuel Rodulinsky Angela Matfuli and Joseph Laput. The cause cited is ignition of mine gas from a naked flame.
