Fall Arrives Quietly as Temperatures Drop Across Week
The Frederick News-Post notes a cooler end to summer with a 64 degree high after a mild Saturday, while autumn officially begins at 7:56 p.m. The National Weather Service predicts rapid fall cooling with 40s at night and 70s by day. Forecasters expect sunny days early in the week, then showers midweek, and variable temperatures through Friday. Meteorologist Dewey Walston says a drought-wet fall is unlikely, with fall typically the driest season, and El Nino likely not to alter autumn temps or rain much, though winter could be different. The piece hints at continued coverage on page A.
