Trench Cave-In Traps Worker in Montgomery Area
Bryan VanHook a 20 year old Seabrook man was trapped up to his neck in a 14 foot trench on Water Street Gaithersburg. Fellow worker Scott Swing jumped in removed dirt from his mouth and chest allowing him to breathe until rescue crews freed him. He was treated for a separated shoulder and released from Suburban Hospital. OSHA will investigate shoring adequacy. The project is by D&R Contracting of Clarksville.

Union Bridge boy seriously injured in Md. 26 crash
Carroll Long seven of Molasses Road remained in critical but stable condition at Johns Hopkins Hospital after a truck car collision at Md. 26 and Clemsonville Road. The dump truck driven by Randy Brown twenty two from Taneytown struck the car as it pulled from Clemsonville into the truck’s path. Bonnie Long thirty and Tonya D. Long nine were treated and released at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Carroll was airlifted to JHH due to foggy weather grounding helicopters. Bonnie Long was cited for failure to stop and yield and unsafe tires.

Frederick County Advanced Life Support team tops the It's Paramedic competition at the Parascope conference in Bethesda. Captain Micheal Rogers and teammates Terry Shook and Linda Sutton led a strong run from preliminaries to final, defeating Montgomery County and Alexandria, Va. teams. ALS coordinator Bob Brashears praised the victory, noting this is the fourth time in five years the Frederick team has placed first or as runner-up.
