Byrd urges Chesapeake seafood plan at Frederick Rotary
Dr H C Byrd spoke to Frederick Rotary about preserving Maryland s seafood industry and Tidewater Fisheries mission. He called for reorganizing public thinking, elevating pack aging, and winning watermen over, warning of a lean 15 percent who rule industry policy. He urged a three year planting program and cooperation with Virginia, focusing on oysters in the Chesapeake and facing competition from Icelandic seafood.
