Thief Stole Bottles In Court House Case Highlighted At Night Court
Deputy Sheriff Raymond A. Haugh testified that 13 cases of empty court house bottles were stolen over two months as Kenneth Smith of Thurmont was found guilty of petty larceny and sentenced to three months in the House of Correction for cashing in bottles at two cents each. Magistrate Wilbur F. Sheffield Sr. noted personal identification by police and witnesses, linking Smith to similar thefts at City Hall and Winchester Hall while the court also addressed a separate case of Sydney Wolf, ordered to pay $25 weekly for three years to support his wife and four children amid warnings of further penalties for nonpayment or assault. The hearing also focused on Bernard Rippeon’s reckless driving case, continued to allow observation of East Patrick Street conditions.
