County Road Plans Curtailed by Funding Shortfall
County Commissioners told the Roads Board that the 1956 construction program will shrink due to Legislature inaction on motor vehicle license increases. About 30 miles are approved but unlikely to be finished this year, with 35 to 40 miles planned for next year and many projects pushed to the new program. Several road segments requested surfaced highways, while Willard will submit 1956 recommendations by month’s end.
