Mrs. Ernest Webb of Hollywood Florida described the great hurricane that hit the east coast of Florida for two nights. She arrived in Washington with children and Miss Emma Payne to report widespread destruction, fire, and loss while noting many residents were safe. The storm left extensive damage in Hollywood with churches and the post office destroyed, several hotels used as hospitals, and martial law in place.

Two Men Struck by Auto Near Weverton
N J Minor and Abe Mirley, both of Sandy Hook, were struck Saturday night by a car driven by Forrest Moler of Brunswick. Minor, about 60, suffered two broken legs and grave injuries. Mirley had a broken knee cap. Minor underwent left leg amputation Monday and was listed as fair. Mirley was hospitalized in Charles Town, West Virginia. No arrests were reported. State Police Sergeant Atkinson investigated.

First Fall Meeting Of Civic Club Held At YMCA
Mrs M N Kindley presided at the Civic club gathering at the YMCA on Monday September 20 urging continued interest in the year ahead. Reports showed July lawn fete receipts near 100 for proceeds and the Art Scholarship fund completed with endowment still short. Radio talks on Citizenship were announced for September 24 October 1 22 and 29 at 9 p m over WCAO. Delegates to the Northern Diat Federation luncheon and meeting were named with tickets needed by October 1. The October meeting is set for October 25 with the Oct 5 luncheon replacing the club’s annual function.

The Brunswick Frederick County League ball club will honor the pennant win with a banquet in the railroad town Wednesday evening. Organizer Jas Chambers of Brunswick and four years’ manager of the team convene the event. All team members and board members attend, with league founders as guests of honor. A larger celebration with a barbecue is planned for early next month at Brunswick Park.

Two Die As Fonck's Plane Burns on Flight Start
