State BoE to hear charge against local school grading policy
A state Board of Education hearing is set for October 26 in Woodsboro over a seventh grade grade given at Walkersville Middle School. Diane Haugen alleges her son Elden Lindamood received an inappropriate grade and lacked a satisfactory explanation after following school channels. The local board, citing high enrollment, says grading rests with principals unless clearly unreasonable. The examiner favored the local board, but the state board will review the matter with the examiner’s report.
