Police say a driver, Lester S. Bair, 998 North Market Street, fell asleep and struck Weil Bros. pumps at 331 North Market Street, demolishing both. Damage to Bair's car estimated at 300 dollars. He was charged with failing to keep to the right. In a separate 12:05 p.m. crash on South Market Street, three vehicles collided when Roy E. Vanvieck Jr. struck the car ahead of him after Misner failed to signal. Misner paid five dollars and costs for failing to signal. Vanvieck paid twenty five dollars and costs for reckless driving. No injuries reported.

Reports from Paducah railroad dispatchers and Covington Tennessee indicated a bright fireball growing larger before bursting, with Memphis authorities coordinating searches near Hatchie Bottoms. An American Airlines captain sighted the flash about 130 am east of Nashville, saying the orange yellow blue flame lit the sky, and questioned whether it burned out in the air or struck ground.

Frederick County Seeks Bids For Doubs Road Section
