Maryland moves to cut excess hospital beds costs
Maryland lawmakers targeted hospital overcapacity with bills to preserve the all payer system, limit new certificates of need, and curb expensive diagnostic equipment. Officials warn 3,000 to 5,200 beds could remain unused, costing about 200 million dollars annually, with Baltimore bearing much of the excess.
