Shogun Opens Frederick Season With Spectacle At Kennedy Center
The Frederick season starts with Shogun a musical adaptation of James Clavell’s novel featuring two bare-topped drummers and lavish effects. Performers deliver strong singing and dancing though the plot feels uneven. Rostropovich conducts the National Symphony in a program honoring Copland and Mussorgsky Ravels Pictures at an Exhibition. The Frederick Travel Club recommends the show and hopes for continued symphony series. Esther Peterson hosts a gathering at Eleanor Roosevelt's Val-Kill center in Hyde Park with notable guests including Sam Zagoria and Eleanor R Seagraves.
