Switch Blade Knife Brings Prison Term
A 19 year old migratory worker James Taylor, Florida born, was sentenced to three months in the House of Correction by Magistrate H Reese Shoemaker for carrying a concealed switch blade knife and threatening people. Officers Kanode and Trump testified the tablet was found after several complaints. Taylor claimed he picked up the knife in a tavern scuffle and did not intend harm. Several suspensions were handed for other cases with fines and collateral forfeitures listed. George Washington in 1793 was a guest of the first circus in Philadelphia.

Farm Belt optimism cited in Eisenhower report
President Eisenhower received a favorable briefing on Republican prospects in the farm belt from Ben Bourke Hickenlooper. He said Republicans could carry Iowa and that a farm economy upswing is tied to Eisenhowers farm program. The Agriculture Department forecasts higher net farm income for July September. Eisenhower plans a trip to Iowa for Field Day and a Peoria farm speech later in September.
