Salisbury Sept. 18 A state Roads Commission official said he did not take a bribe but aimed to trap the woman who gave him the money Louis J Parsons a 34 year old end of a truck weighing crew has been suspended from his $2640 per year job while the bribery inquiry proceeds Prosecutors say Parsons accepted 250 from Mrs David Hancock of Stockton with the offer to fix five jurors for 50 each in the appeal trial of her husband who was fined 1000 for disobeying a truck stop order Parsons lawyers claim he never intended to accept a bribe but went along to obtain evidence to convict Mrs Hancock of the attempted bribe Fox said the transaction occurred with marked bills and Parsons was arrested with the money He is free on 5000 bond Also noted a Senate move to raise government workers pay 10 percent to a maximum of 800 a year dating back to July 1 and costing about 40 million a year

Eight Thousand Israel Bonds Sold At Frederick Meeting
Eight thousand dollars of Israel bonds were sold at a bond meeting here sponsored by the Frederick Lodge B'nai B'rith and the Frederick Chapter of the National Council of Jewish Women on Thursday evening. Abe Solar announced the results. Mose I. Speert, vice chair of the Baltimore Bond Committee, spoke on Israel Bonds as an Investment and noted the bond issue helps Israel expand industry and agriculture. Mrs. Herman Weener, president of the Frederick Chapter, assisted in the program.

Blast at Shell refinery kills 12 and wounds 20
A massive explosion at the Shell Oil Co refinery in Wood River last night killed 12 workers and seriously injured about 20 others. Flames tore through Mrs Jolliffe s Home for the Aged in Colesville Maryland sending three bodies out by firemen as 59 patients were in residence at the time. Two Escapees Captured After Mental Hospital Breakout
