Grasped Hat Triggers Auto Crash Injuring Woman
A five passenger Hupmobile owned by Mrs. Florence Flook of Burkittsville crashed on Frederick-Jefferson Road between one and two pm Saturday. Mrs. Flook sustained bruises and a head gash while her 12 year old son had minor injuries. They were taken to Frederick City Hospital and later returned home. The crash occurred as Mrs. Flook attempted to pass a Gulf Refining track driven by Guy Anders. her hat blew off and in reaching for it she lost control, the car veering across the road, through a fence, and into a locust tree. Damages included a smashed left front fender and broken headlight, with other engine damage possible pending inspection. Witnesses Walter Duvall and George Royer aided, and Mrs. W. M. Swain of Brunswick assisted the injured.
