Schaefer outlines two plans to cut 450 million

Maryland Governor William Donald Schaefer presented two budget cutting options totaling 450 million. One plan calls for deep agency cuts, the other shifts more burden to counties with 241.3 million from agencies, 150 million to local government, plus 88 million in fees and 50 million from a new lottery. About 450 state workers could lose jobs. 2,500 would be let go under the broader cuts if the legislature rejects the plan.

The fragmentary content suggests a local notes page rather than a coherent report.
