Annexation deadline looms amid opposition filings and rezoning vote
City officials set a 45 day window for annexation petitions with potential delays if opposition arises. The council denied a rezoning request for a 10 acre West Patrick Street tract for a Beatrice and Glenn Roberts property, where Ben Rosenstock's firm represents the owners. Plans by C M Hale for about 225 apartment units and a $2.5 million investment drew protests from Wyngate residents and neighbors. Attorneys for objectors cited traffic and safety concerns, while the planning commission urged two 50 foot wide access streets. The aldermen referred an 80 acre north of U S 49 east near the airport from residential to light industrial. Additional actions included lease extension with U S Army Reserve, salt and coal contracts, street lighting, a new patrolman, winter uniforms, and routine bills.
