Fourth Bridge Collapse Sparks County Traffic Hazard
The Bennett Creek bridge on Dixon Road collapsed under a 55,000 pound dump truck driven by James Russell Newman of Washington DC. The 70 year old iron and oak span, vandalism at the weight sign noted, fell ten feet into Bennett Creek injuring the vehicle and prompting a county wide reassessment of aging bridges built for horse and buggy travel.
