Pershing Goes Back Home for Missouri Homecoming
In Laclede Missouri on September 16 the town prepares for General John J. Pershing to return to his boyhood home for a Missouri homecoming. Mayor Allen pledges a traditional, low key welcome with reunions, visits to the Pershing farm, and a celebration featuring an honor guard and remarks by Governor Gardner. Pershing cables he will join later but cannot set a definite date yet. Local figures Aunt Susan Hewett and Aunt Louisa Warren, both described as early childhood helpers, are named among those greeting him.
