Incumbents win most MontCo Democratic council seats
In Montgomery County primary results six of seven Democratic council candidates were elected, reshaping the all-Democratic panel. Incumbent County Executive Charles W. Gilchrist faces Republican Joseph McGrath in November after McGrath upset Luiz Simmons. McGrath, a bank VP, held 41 percent of GOP votes, with former County Exec James P. Gleason backing him. The race featured a split party dynamic and a potential peacekeeping role for Gilchrist.
